The science bit: When you get a tattoo, ink is injected into the dermis. In the days following, you may notice the tattoo naturally fades as a result of ink escaping through the surface of the skin, or being cleared away by the body’s natural response to a foreign substance. The final tattoo is made up of ink pigment which is too deep to have escaped through the surface of the skin, and too large to have been removed by the body.

Laser tattoo removal selectively targets tattoo ink with light energy in the form of a laser. The beam breaks down large particles of ink into smaller ink particles, that can be more easily cleared away by the body’s immune system.

Laser Tattoo Removal FAQ's

How does laser tattoo removal work?

When you get a tattoo, ink is injected into the dermis. In the days following, you may notice the tattoo naturally fades as a result of ink escaping through the surface of the skin, or being cleared away by the body's natural response to a foreign substance. The final tattoo is made up of ink pigment which is too deep to have escaped through the surface of the skin, and too large to have been removed by the body.

Laser tattoo removal selectively targets tattoo ink with light energy in the form of a laser. The beam breaks down large particles of ink into smaller ink particles, that can be more easily cleared away by the body's immune system.

When to Strike?

We have to allow 6 months for the ink to heal in the skin when targeting a tattoo on the body. We allow 2 months for cosmetic tattoos to heal in the skin. We have to allow enough time for the tissue to repair and recover before performing such an invasive procedure to avoid scarring and further

trauma.

UV Exposure

One of the most important factors when preparing for a procedure is to ensure that you do not have an active tan. You must confirm that you have not been exposed to UV (Sun/Sun Beds) for 30 days. The production of melanin in the skin can cause scarring when exposed to the laser. You must also not be exposed to UV for 30 days after their procedure. (It can be covered if desired.)

Can a tattoo be removed completely?

Yes, complete tattoo removal is possible. The amount of sessions required will of course differ from client to client.

How many sessions are required?

It completely depends on the clients skin tissue and anatomy, the tattoo itself and the machine used. At The Brow Girl, we use an advanced Class 4 Medical Grade Picosecond system which will achieve the desired results in less sessions in comparison to alternative systems.

Can you remove Cosmetic Tattoos on the face?

Yes absolutely!

Does the procedure hurt?

Pain varies from client to client. Our Picosecond system has a very short pulse and is much less painful in comparison to alternative systems.

Can I have this done while pregnant and/or nursing?

No, you cannot.

I have a previous brow tattoo, do I need this removing prior to getting my brows done with you?

The answer is, possibly! I can not answer for sure without a consultation first. Seeing your brows in person as well as working out what you're looking to achieve as well as expectations. There are lots of variables here, but it is not always necessary to have complete removal prior.

What is the difference between body and PMU tattoos?

Body Tattoos are deeper in the 4th laver of skin, and Cosmetic Tattoos are superficial (supposedly) in the 2nd layer of skin. It isn't the laser beam hitting the skin that causes discomfort, it is the shattering of the ink. Removing body tattoos are more painful due to the depth of the ink, and cosmetic tattoos are less uncomfortable. Of course, due to the depth of the ink, it will take more sessions of removal to expel body tattoos, and less for cosmetic tattoos.

saline tattoo removal baldock hertfordshire

Saline Tattoo Removal

Saline removal is a unique method of permanent makeup pigment removal, that is designed to completely remove pigments from the body. It's done using a sterile saline solution (salt water) and can remove a variety of permanent make-up applications, such as:

The solution is tattooed into the pigmented area. The formula then starts the process of osmosis, where the salts in the liquid pull out water in the skin and remove the pigment molecules (the tattoo being removed). After the saline treatment is finished, the skin will return to its natural state, over a period of several weeks.

Typically, several sessions are required to completely remove a tattoo. The amount of sessions required is determined by the intensity and depth of the coloured-skin (pigment) and its saturation (how dense it is).

Saline removal isn't always necessary or needed, if you want your brows re-worked by Alex, but it is always best to discuss your best options in a consultation.

lip line tattoo removal baldock hertfordshire

Saline Lip Line Removal

Due to the high content of titanium dioxide in lip pigments, it is advised not to have laser tattoo removal instead with saline tattoo removal as all colours can be removed.

This is for just top or top and bottom lip line, however not on the actual lip.

Saline removal is a unique method of permanent makeup pigment removal which is designed to completely remove pigments from the body. It's done using a sterile saline solution (salt water).

The solution is tattooed into the pigmented area. The formula then  starts the process of osmosis, where the salts in the liquid pull out water in the skin, and with it, taking the pigment molecules.

Typically, several sessions are  required to completely remove a tattoo. The amount will depend on the colours, depth of pigment and saturation (how dense it is).

A consultation and patch test is recommended a minimum of 48 hrs before treatment so I can evaluate and talk you through the process as well as aftercare.

This does not guarantee full removal, you may still need more sessions.

With any booking and treatment of tattoo removal, I offer a reduction of £50 to my full price cosmetic tattoo lip treatments, if you choose to have them redone by myself.

If you have further questions on lip line removal or would like to a consultation, to discuss if I can help you remove your unwanted ink, please get in touch!

Emergency Tattoo Removal

Emergency removals can only be done up to 48 hours after the treatment was originally done. It can be used on tattoos or permanent makeup.

No machines are involved in emergency removals as the skin is still 'open' from the treatment. The saline solution will be applied to the area and within a few days, it will scab and lift.

There is never a guarantee as to how much pigment will come out, but emergency removals tend to be quite effective and will usually remove much more than when having a regular removal session.

This is a premium price due to the need for my availability within that time frame. Please contact me if you're unable to get an appointment online so I can ensure you are seen before the cut off time.
